The Wanton Fawns are excited to announce that they have been commissioned to write an original composition for the Viceroy Brass Ensemble. This all-women brass "super-group" is comprised of some of the most successful brass players from around the world, including Joan Watson, the principal hornist for the Canadian Opera Company. Viceroy will premiere the Wanton Fawns' new piece at the International Women in Brass Conference in Toronto in June of 2010. (Please visit
www.iwbctoronto2010.com for details) The Fawns are embarking on a new creative process for this piece, where they will compose a theme together, and then each will compose her own variation based on that theme. Please stay tuned to this section of the site for updates on their progress!
The Wanton Fawns will also be presenting a unique and inspired workshop for the I.W.B.C. called "The Jingle Experience", where aspiring brass players will have the opportunity to play original music in a commercial studio setting. Brass players who participate in the workshop will experience all the challenges of recording music in the studio - sight reading new works, playing in headphones and with a click track, and taking direction from clients. Jingles, news fanfares, and cues for dramatic films and television shows will be recorded in sync with picture in the new, state of the art Humber Recording Studio. Participants will also be able to purchase DVDs of their soundtrack performances mixed to the picture, an excellent addition to any aspiring session musician's demo reel.
